About the Textbook

Philosophy for High-schoolers is an introductory Aristotelian / Thomistic philosophy textbook for high-school, college, or seminary students.   Although rich with traditional Aristotelian and Thomistic concepts, the course doesn't limit itself to traditional doctrines, but also forges many new syntheses as it strives toward constructing a complete system and worldview, consistent with both an older faith and wisdom in the universe's order, as well as an acknowledgement of recent scientific breakthroughs. Depending on the teacher's speed, the course may take as little as a single semester (with omissions), or as long as a full year (with teacher-supplied embellishments). In future years, it is envisioned that another textbook in the series, Theology for High-schoolers will be added.

What will it enable me to do?

Philosophy for Highschoolers is a philosophy text for those who have no background in Philosophy.  At the completion of this course you will . . .

1. Have a broad and integrated worldview for how the universe operates (including God).

2. Weigh and debate the merits of other Philosophical arguments according to a rigorous metaphysical system of analysis.

3. Be able to read rigorous Scholastic texts (like St. Thomas Aquinas' Summa Thelogiae or Aristotle's Metaphysics), being able to understand the terms and arguments.

How can I work this course into my school's curriculum?

This course can substitute for any high-level high school course. One might substitue it for a course in Logic or Apologetics, since the book essentially accomplishes the same aims as those two courses (with a few slight changes).
